At the head of the Cathedral Peak valley, right beneath the towering rock spire of the same name, lies the Cathedral Peak Hotel. This is a traditional family resort hotel: accommodation is simple and modern in style, and completely without any airs and graces. It has a host of activities on site, from pool or darts through to golf, archery and bowls, as well as a restaurant that turns out decent food throughout the day. However it is the location right in the heart of the mountains that is the real draw. There are daily guided hikes to rock art sites and waterfalls, and horse riding is available as well: it is all about getting out and exploring the amazing scenery of the Drakensberg Mountains.
